We are rated as a good school by Ofsted March 2018

Welcome to St Michael's Primary School in the village of Withyham.  We are a small Community School with wonderful children, dedicated staff, a strong Governing Body and supportive parents.  At our recent Ofsted in March 2018 Inspectors said:

'The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection.  The school has  retained the charm and appeal that makes St Michael’s a popular school with parents, carers and pupils alike.'

'Parents really like the small, family feel of the school.... many parents choose to travel to St Michael’s from further afield because of the care and guidance you offer to your pupils.'

St Michael’s is set in a beautiful village, offering each child high quality learning opportunities.  Our strength is our size, we know each child as an individual, ensuring teaching and learning meets the needs and interests of each pupil.

Our mission statement is 'learning and growing together'.  As well as high quality teaching, we offer a broader curriculum related to the local countryside. We grow herbs by the school entrance for use in cookery lessons, We have a well-tended school garden and  we sell produce after school on Fridays to the community during the growing season.

Our School Values in term 6 2018

Each term we focus on a different value in school. Our school value for Term 6 is creativity

The image we use to help us think about this terms value is a unicorn
The unicorn helps to think about the value of creativity - we think imaginatively.

We have our own ideas but also respect and appreciate the ideas of others.  Trying new things is exciting!

We link the learning value of creativity to the British Value of  mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.

Our Term Dates are below:

Training Dates for staff (INSET days) when the school is closed to children.

Friday 20 July 2018 - we will focusing on curriculum design

Monday 3 September 2018 - forward planning for the academoc year

Monday 29 October 2018 -  self reguation and development of independance for children

Tuesday 30 October 2018 - teaching and learning
