Welcome to St Michael's Primary School in the village of Withyham.  We are a small Community School with wonderful children, dedicated staff, a strong Governing Body and supportive parents.

St Michael’s is set in a beautiful village, offering each child high quality learning opportunities.  Our strength is our size, we know each child as an individual, ensuring teaching and learning meets the needs and interests of each pupil.

Our mission statement is 'learning and growing together'.  As well as high quality teaching, we offer a broader curriculum related to the local countryside. We grow herbs by the school entrance for use in cookery lessons, We have a well-tended school garden and  we sell produce after school on Fridays to the community during the growing season.

I look forward to meeting you

Mrs O'Shea Headteacher

During our Ofsted inspection in March 2018 Inspectors said: The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection.  The school has  retained the charm and appeal that makes St Michael’s a popular school with parents, carers and pupils alike.'

'Parents really like the small, family feel of the school.... many parents choose to travel to St Michael’s from further afield because of the care and guidance you offer to your pupils.'

Learning Values in School:

Every term the school has a different learning value, these include, resilience, creativity, respect, responsibility and challenge. In term 5 our learning value is respect.

The image that we use to help children focus on thios is the tortoise.  Tortoises like a challenge and is they are willing to have a go at things even if it takes they a bit longer and it can be tricky.  Tortoises accept that learning is sometimes hard for everyone and that to make mistakes helps us to improve and reach our goals. In this term we will also revisit the British Value of individual liberty.

Term dates 2021- 2022

We have a reamianing training day for the academic year 2021.  This will take place on Monday 10 May where staff will be focusing on well being.

Children Taking Medicines in School

We are unable to administer medicines unless the form below has been completed (this is in word so it may be returned to us via e-mail if easier).

Please note: medicines must be in their orginal packaging with dosage information included.  Ms Udell and Mrs O'Shea have received specific training to administer medicines.  The form below is a crucial part of our procedures, please hand this information in at the office or if easier email it to the school office at:  office@st-michaels.e-sussex.sch.uk.  Thank you for your support and understanding in ensuring we can always administer medicines safely in school.
