Is your child going to be 5 years old between September 2021 and August 2022?

They will start school next academic year in September 2021.

St Michael's is a school that prides itself on high quality teaching and an ongoing focus on well being for all.  We have fantastic outside space.  A key aspect of the school's vision is being outside in the fresh air playing and learning throughout the year.

The second lockdown in November 2020 has meant we are not able to have tours of the school as we had planned.  We hope these will resume from 2 December   Below is short film to give you an idea about the space we have in the school, along with a slideshow of information about the school that makes us a unique  setting.  We are looking forward to meeting you all!

Information for Parents of children starting school in September 2021

Starting school in September 2021

We know that it has been a very peculiar time since March 2020. Your child’s first experience of school is a very important one and we recognise that settling into school is a huge step for both you and your child.

St Michael's is a unique school with an emphasis on making use of our environment to ensure high quality teaching and learning.  We have high expectaions for every child.. Where necessary we offer tailored support.  Offering a small nurturing Reception class is a key part of giving children a successful start at school.

To achieve their best we believe every child must come to school and feel safe and happy.

The school motto is 'learning and growing together.'

Miss Brettle has  prepared a document to give you a taste of day to day life in Reception at St Michael's. It provides you with information about the curriculum that we follow in Reception alongside pictures of the curriculum areas in action.

To record lots of your children's learning in Reception we use Tapestry. Lots of you will be familiar with this from your child's preschool setting but for anyone who is new to Tapestry, or if you need a refresher, we have created a simple guide to Tapestry. If your child has Tapestry at their current setting, this will be transferred over to St Michael's so that your child's learning journey builds on top of their previous observations, making a lovely document of all of their learning since preschool by the end of Reception.
